With this initiative, the Department of Human, Economic and Legal Sciences and the Law Degree Programme at the European University of Rome are launching a series of meetings dedicated to the study of archaic Roman law, the very origins of the Western legal tradition.
The conference will bring together leading scholars and experts in legislation and jurisprudence from the 8th to the 3rd century BC, who will discuss a topic that remains central to this day: the relationship and distinction between public law and private law.
The event is also dedicated to the memory of Prof. Francesco Paolo Casavola, who recently passed away and was one of the leading scholars in the field. Former President of the Constitutional Court, the Istituto dell’Enciclopedia Italiana – Treccani and the National Committee for Bioethics, Casavola was a key figure in Italian legal culture.
