Book presentation: ‘History in Reverse: Popesses and Antipopes, Dwarves and Ghosts’

Tommaso di Carpegna Falconieri will be a guest at our University for the presentation of his book: ‘La Storia al Contrario; Papesse e antipapi, nani e fantasmi’ (History in Reverse: Popesses and Antipopes, Dwarves and Ghosts), a book that combines rigour and imagination to train a critical eye on what we call the ‘past’. The structure of the volume – a journey in four movements, like a symphony – makes it particularly effective reading from an educational point of view: each section presents a case, an enigma, an interpretative trail and invites us to reflect on how a historical narrative is created, drawing on sources, evidence, conjecture, falsifications and myths.
