SCORPiò-NIDI: Siege of Pompeii - From Digitally Surveyed Data to Visualized Simulations

Friday, February 13, 2026| 09:30- Friday, February 13, 2026| 09:30
Università degli Studi della Campania "Luigi Vanvitelli"

Summarising, in an assembly format, the results achieved at the end of two years of funded studies and research (PRIN22, P.I. Adriana Rossi, UNIcampania) provided an opportunity to discuss the advantages offered by digital language as an environment for analysis and verification. The debate will be extended to academic staff and PhD students of the doctoral programme in Environmental Science and Engineering and Sustainability, as well as to cultural and creative enterprises dedicated to experimental archaeology. The project focuses on the possibility of correctly using reality-based 3D models to reconstruct positive and negative casts of the damage generated by pre-Christian neuroballistae. The uniqueness of Pompeii’s history guarantees, to a certain extent, the epochal originality of the acquired data.
